TIP FOR CONDO OWNERS
It is likely that your HOA has a master policy that covers flood damage to the outside of the building which includes your unit. You will need to contact them to report the claim. Any personal property inside your unit that was destroyed by a flood will require you to have had a personal flood insurance policy.
TIP FOR AUTO INSURANCE HOLDERS
If you have a vehicle damaged by flood, and you have comprehensive coverage on your policy, then you can file that claim to be paid. You must have comprehensive coverage active, and you must pay a deductible. Call 1-800-54-STORM
WARNING – NEVER SIGN AN ASSIGNMENT OF BENEFITS. DON’T GIVE CONTRACTORS MONEY UP FRONT.
It is inevitably going to happen that people will get hustled by frauds. Don’t let it be you. Never sign an assignment of benefits form, and never give money up front. It’s better to wait and ask your insurance company if you are unsure rather than become a victim of a crime.
