Florida’s Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday will take place from May 31, 2019 to midnight on June, 6, 2019.

During this sales tax holiday period, qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax. With hurricane season beginning on June 1, now is the time to stock up on qualifying preparedness supplies.

    1. Reusable Ice Packs
  2. $20 or less
    1. Any portable self-powered light source
      1. flashlights, lanterns, candles
  3. $25 or less
    1. Any gas or diesel fuel container, including LP gas and kerosene containers
  4. $30 or less
    1. Batteries, including rechargeable batteries, listed sizes only
      (excluding automobile and boat batteries): AA and AAA, D-cell & C-cell, 6-volt
    2. Coolers & Ice Chests
      1. (food-storage; non electrical)
  5. $50 or less
    1. Tarpaulins (tarps)
      Visqueen, plastic sheeting, plastic drop clothes, and other flexible waterproof sheeting
      Ground anchor systems
      Tie-down kits
      Bungee cords
      Ratchet straps
      Radios (powered by battery, solar or hand crank)

      1. Two-way Weather band

    1. Portable generators used to provide light or communications, or to preserve food in the event of a power outage
  7. Always Exempt
    1. Bottled water (unflavored, uncarbonated) Canned food, including meats, vegetable, fruits, peanut butter, and other nonperishable items First aid kits
      Prescription and non-prescription medications (all Rx and most over the counter are exempt) Baby food and formulas.
